I love the idea behind not throwing the baby out with the bath water. To me, it means that people are such complex emotional/psychological beings that those who love us can’t rid themselves of the things about us that irritate them without also ridding themselves of the things about us that are endearing. Or as my wife likes to say about the drama queen that I am—which she sometimes finds annoying and sometimes finds amusing—”I guess I’m stuck with you.
