What a career journey, David! By the way, I spent a weekend in Brazil once with Louis Rossetto because a mutual friend from S.F. was going to weekend in Parati, a colonial town in four hours from Rio, and he thought we might get along. Was he ever wrong. Louis and I got into a political argument in the car on the way there, after which we both decided we were not each other’s cup of tea. He, a right-wing libertarian, thought corporations should be allowed unregulated control their activities by a laissez-faire government and I believed that government should regulate corporate activities that harmed the public, like preventing the formation of monopolies. Our political views were so diametrically opposed, creating mutual-disrespect, that we both realized it would be impossible to connect personally. I continue to believe this. Politics, for me, is the canary in the coal mine.
