Completely agree. Unfortunately, our judicial system is not set up to deal with urgent needs, even so urgent that democracy itself is on the line. Better to follow every dot & dash of standard protocol.
Part and parcel of that is that our system of "justice" favors those with lots of money and many high-priced attorneys to bend it to their will. With enough money and enough lawyers, it's often easy to delay trials almost into infinity. See Charles Dickens' "Bleak House" for a brilliant explanation of how this can play out.
I'm hopeful that the Alvin Bragg case may get to trial in another month or so and be decided quickly. And it's a criminal case. Fingers crossed!
