Well said, as always, David. I believe a return to norms will have to be accompanied by a return to listening to those we disagree with. Not necessarily the shouting, ranting cultists, with whom communication is a one-way street, but with many presumably persuadable people who failed to vote or voted for the other party on Tuesday: many young people, a large number of Hispanic men, a surprising number of Black men, and a surprising number of white women, who can't all be members of the MAGA cult. There will be no return to norms without better listening and better communicating. For progressives, in particular, this will mean coming out of our/your bubbles and engaging with other opinions, other voices. If we stay inside our bubbles, no return to norms, no return to a "united" USA. And no return to a healthy democracy with faith in the future.
