David, thanks for what you've done and are doing to address these sorts of issues--loneliness, isolation, etc. One of my biggest post-retirement volunteer gigs is working with a NE Portland nonprofit that helps seniors find community, support (with chores, errands, etc.) and join affinity groups (art, writing, movie watching, book reading, knitting). It's rewarding to me and my wife, and other volunteers. I wish our society did more along these lines, and less on creating political divisions and me-or-the-highway approaches to life.

David -- You have been spot on in this. Even for those of us working that sense of isolation is intense. The post COVID workplace is not like the social space it was before. Empty hallways, no chance encounters, and little social context for a sense of collaboration are still symptoms of long COVID.
